We, as One GrandVision team, want to go further than our role as employees and support our communities and the environment through various local initiatives. We believe that there is more good we can do in addition to our mission to provide high-quality and affordable eye care to more and more people around the world. And also have fun doing it!

Kulbir Kandhola, Head of Infrastructure shares his passion for helping others:

I’m delighted that GrandVision is committed to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and is encouraging everyone to make a contribution to society by volunteering through its association with Deedmob.

I’m passionate about being able to help others in society, either by financially funding various project around the world but also by volunteering and giving up my time to help others, which is most satisfying to know that you are making a small difference to someone’s life.

Together with a group of friends, we fund an orphanage school in Mombasa, Kenya and also a School for the Blind & Visually Impaired in Punjab, India. But we also volunteer with two organisations locally within the community we live in – with the Salvation Army and a small charity called Nightwatch. With Salvation Army, we provide and help with their food-bank, providing food provisions for food parcels for those people who cannot afford to feed themselves and their families.

Nightwatch helps those people living on the streets and are homeless. It helps them get off the streets and finds accommodation for them but while they are living on the streets, it provides food and essential items such as sleeping bags and toiletries. Nightwatch does this every day, 365 days a year and I help-out every Friday night, on the streets, serving hot soup, sandwiches, etc to the homeless. On Sundays, we cook and serve hot meals – the only hot meal some might have had that week!! Helping people who have been disadvantaged for various reasons, not judging them but letting them know that they are loved and valued, give them hope and this is the most satisfying feeling you can get. Volunteering can be fun but it’s also very satisfying and making a contribution to communities and society we live in, so give it a try.
