Over The Salvation Army - Cambridge
In addition to being part of the Christian Church, The Salvation Army endeavours to serve the local community around the Mill Road area of Cambridge. Our Community Café is open from 9am till 2pm Monday to Friday, offering breakfast, snacks, lunch, hot and cold beverages in a safe, relaxed atmosphere. The café is situated within our Community Centre which also hosts a carpet bowls club, a Knit and Natter group as well as having rooms available to rent for community groups. Our Charity shop is also on Mill Road and offers furniture, clothing, books and bric-a-brac at affordable prices. All in all, it provides employment for five paid members of staff, and over sixty volunteers who offer a service to the general public, the city council and social services, landlords and landladies and those less fortunate who need assistance with clothing and/or furniture. It is open six days a week, shutting at lunch time on a Saturday.
