Join the SUGIR and FMI for an interactive youth ultrasound workshop where kids will explore human anatomy, learn about health careers, and connect with mentors
The Radiology Interest Group and Family Medicine Interest Group are partnering with Ujima Foundation SXM, a community organization dedicated to empowering youth and families in Sint Maarten through educational, wellness, and community development programs. Together, they will host an engaging hands-on workshop designed to introduce children and adolescents to human anatomy, medical technology, and careers in healthcare.
During the event, AUC student volunteers will guide youth participants through interactive ultrasound activities where children will learn how ultrasound technology is used to view structures inside the human body. Students will explain anatomy concepts in a fun and age-appropriate way while encouraging curiosity about science, medicine, and health professions.
Following the workshop, volunteers and youth participants will share lunch together, giving children the opportunity to ask questions about medical school, healthcare careers, and student life at AUC in an informal and supportive environment.
This experience is especially valuable for students interested in radiology, family medicine, pediatrics, adolescent medicine, or medical education, as it provides opportunities to practice communication skills with children while inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals in Sint Maarten.
