Make a difference in society
Do you want to make a difference on St Maarten? Think along with Present St Maarten about how we can make society more aware to look out for each other? Would you like to use your knowledge, talent and network to contribute to this? This is possible within Present St Maarten, the organisation that brings people into motion!
Present St Maarten wants to set a movement in motion, in which everyone finds it more natural to help others. Present makes volunteering easy, accessible and without obligation. It starts with the volunteer: the volunteer determines when and in what way he or she wants to be involved. Together with various social organisations, Present makes sure that this help gets to the right place.
Present St Maarten
Present builds a bridge between people who have something to offer and people who can be helped with this. The meeting of these two parties is central. Present Sint Maarten deploys volunteers on a project basis. We offer groups of people the opportunity to experience a meaningful and well-spent afternoon or day by dedicating themselves locally to people facing poverty, poor health or social isolation. Volunteers come from all parts of society: colleagues, church and club members, students, friends and families. They together help people who need a helping hand. For both parties, this makes for an unforgettable experience and a special encounter.
Present Projects
Present St Maarten started doing work for the Island in 2021. Since then, a number of projects have already taken place. Practical jobs have been done, such as painting and doing jobs in a house destroyed by hurricane Irma. But also social projects, such as a games afternoon with clients from a care institution.
The board
We are a dynamic foundation with a coordinator and a growing group of volunteers. The board of Present St Maarten consists of 3 persons and has the final responsibility for the activities of the foundation, the finances, the policy and the employability of the employees. The board plays a role in vision development and contributes to the development and maintenance of the network with social organisations, companies and funds, and also has close cooperation with Present Netherlands. In addition, the Board acts as provides advice and supports the coordinator in actions, representation, fundraising and volunteer meetings.
Present is looking for you
We are looking for a general board member with a heart for people. The time commitment is approximately 2 to 4 hours per week and 6 board meetings per year. Because we are a starting foundation, the board members currently still do a lot together. The time investment will therefore be a bit more at the moment than in a few months' time. Do you have a strong commitment to the people of St Maarten and would you like to use your talents and knowledge in order to support the community? Then we are looking for you.
As a board member of Present St Maarten:
- You live on St Maarten and you want to dedicate yourself to an even more beautiful island;
- You have (minimal) experience with administrative matters and can you think along on an overarching level with regard to policy and vision, finances, organizational structure, employership and inspiring leadership;
- You are a networker, you make contact quickly and you are able to switch easily between different parties.
- You preferably have a network within the social or administrative domain.
- You are enterprising and dare to take on new challenges;
- You are an ambassador for Present in your own network;
- You are prepared to give advice to and support the operational team
- Preferably you have knowledge and/or experience of fundraising.
